Mascot Fun

So this is a small collection of parody mascots of the high schools in my county. I wanted to create some fun and wacky versions of the school mascots in the endeavor to sell them as stickers for the students. I wanted to create versions of all four mascots playing different sports, various art movements, parody famous people, and basically get really expressive with it.

After consulting with the wonderful business department at the district office, I discovered the many hurdles and challenges to selling these on my own site beyond getting copyright permission. Currently, I work at the district in the maintenance department as a painter and sheet rocker, so selling merch even remotely related to the school would fall under an ethics violation since I would have “inside information” that various vendors wouldn’t have. During the meeting, I did state I didn’t want to intrude on the other local vendors who do apparel for the school, but that ethics point wasn’t something I was even thinking about and was a great learning moment. My hopes were to donate some of the profit back to the schools or the booster clubs but the only way this will be green-lit for ease of legal, ethics, and taxes would be to just sell the design to schools to then get produced from a local vendor or print on demand site.

I learned a lot of interesting little things about business and the ethics of the Merchandise process. So enjoy all the concepts I made below!
